The 2022 KTM 450 SX-F engine delivers one of the best balanced powerbands on the market. We know of its proven reliability; it can go an impressive number of hours without needing a rebuild. It might not have the bark of a Honda CRF450R or the monster torque of the Yamaha YZ450F, but it’s stronger than the rest of its competition. The 450 SX-F easily has enough power to keep you excited while maintaining enough controllability that you don’t feel like you’re going to get whiskey throttle and lose control. It also has the broadest powerband, with smooth roll-on in the low rpm that builds steadily all the way to the rev limiter. With an on-the-fly EFI map switch, it’s easy to make noticeable changes to the power delivery throughout the day. Add in a traction control feature (TC) and you can further adapt the engine’s power delivery for changing conditions later into a long moto.

The combination of a Brembo hydraulic clutch system and KTM’s Belleville washer clutch spring setup works flawlessly. Clutch durability is certainly the strongest on the market. As long as you’re not a clutch abuser, you can expect to go a very long time without replacing clutch plates. The five-speed gearbox has very good spacing, which combined with excellent clutch action makes shifting a breeze. While the suspension is unchanged for 2022, the WP Xact air fork and WP Xact shock received significant updates in 2021. Notable features of these components include the range of adjustability and light weight of the pneumatic fork, which is claimed to be 3 pounds lighter than a conventional steel coil-spring fork. The WP suspension, like the engine, takes time to loosen up, so you’ll need to log some seat time to break in the components before you can find the best setting for your riding style. This like new 2022 KTM 450 SX-F has only 13 hours since new and has been fitted with an aftermarket seat, a radiator guard, ODI grips and an acerbis bash plate. It also comes with a genuine WP pump for the air forks.
